ChildFund and Zambia Open Community Schools (ZOCS) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in their joint efforts to improve educational opportunities for Zambia’s most vulnerable children. This partnership aims to enhance access to quality education through collaborative initiatives that will benefit over 1.15 million children across the country. This collaboration will focus on three key areas: joint fundraising initiatives, capacity strengthening of education systems, and advocacy for inclusive education policies that leave no child behind.
“Education is the foundation of a brighter future,” said Victor Koyi, ChildFund Country Director. “Through this partnership, we’re taking deliberate steps to ensure that all children, regardless of their circumstances, can access quality learning opportunities.”Echoing this, Tashar Simasiku, Education Specialist, noted, “This collaboration is a pivotal moment. By combining resources and expertise, we can create lasting change in the lives of Zambia’s underserved children.”
Together, ZOCS and ChildFund will work to strengthen community-based schools, mobilize resources, and advocate for policy reforms that promote inclusive education. Guided by shared values of equity, empowerment, and sustainability, their joint efforts aim to improve the lives of marginalized children and support the education sector’s overall development.
“This MoU represents a shared vision, collective commitment, and a strategic roadmap for the future of education for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC). Today, we are establishing a platform for collaboration, innovation, and positive change. This agreement symbolizes our dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of Zambia’s vulnerable children and the education sector at large,” stated ZOCS Director Cleopatra Muma.
The MoU delineates a framework for joint funding, capacity building, and advocacy efforts. Notably, the partnership aims to unlock funding opportunities that would be inaccessible to each organization alone, thereby increasing resources directly impacting marginalized children.Furthermore, the agreement will facilitate the sharing of expertise and best practices, enabling staff training, skill development, and the creation of a competent workforce capable of addressing complex educational challenges.
